Yarra Valley Water have many thousands of Assets that their Maintenance Staff need to find easily in times of Emergency. i.e. Ground Plugs, Water Main Valves, Shut Valves, Distribution Valves, Above Ground Hydrants. Fittings off both Reticulation and Distribution Mains.
In the past these Assets have been located and painted to identify their use and location. When they have just been painted they can be found easily but the problem is the paint wears off in 4-6 months and they have to be repainted, with some 10-20,000 Valves and hydrant it becomes a very expensive project.
To forget about them will cause major problems when they have to be operated in an emergency and time wasted in trying to finding them can lead to some major damage if a burst water main is involved.
We provided a solution with the use of AWIS Preform, AWIS Preform is a Road Marking thermoplastic. It is a long life product with high retro reflectivity and anti slip characteristics.

By using AWIS Preform to identify their Assets they now have to apply the identification every 5-6 years instead of 1-2 years, the Markings are neat, they don’t have to wait for the paint to dry and they are retro reflective and anti skid.
On the Ground Plug identification the Triangle is placed on the carriageway near the kerb and a Blue RPM (Cats Eyes) is located on the Carriageway so they can be easily identified day or night by Maintenance crews or Emergency services.
